Palm Beach, Florida – On Christmas Eve, President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump continued a beloved tradition by joining the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) in tracking Santa Claus. From their Mar-a-Lago home, the First Couple spoke with children across the nation, sharing in the excitement and wonder of the holiday season.
For over six decades, NORAD has brought joy to families by providing updates on Santa’s journey around the world. This year was no different, as children eagerly called in to ask about Santa’s whereabouts and express their Christmas wishes.
While the First Lady engaged in private conversations with some of the young callers, President Trump put his calls on speakerphone, allowing the press to listen in.
One memorable exchange involved 8-year-old Savannah from North Carolina, who was concerned about Santa being upset if she didn’t leave him cookies.
“I think he won’t get mad, but I think he’ll be very disappointed. Santa tends to be a little on the cherubic side,” the President responded.
The President’s lighthearted comment brought laughter and joy to all who were listening. He then spoke with 8-year-old Emilia from Kansas, who cleverly answered that she didn’t want coal for Christmas. With a chuckle, President Trump responded, “Not coal, no you don’t want coal — you mean clean, beautiful coal. I had to do that, I’m sorry.”
President Trump assured Jennifer of Oklahoma and her 4-year-old sister Anastasia that Santa was indeed a good person, saying “We track Santa all over the world. We want to make sure that Santa is being good. Santa is a very good person. We want to make sure that he’s not infiltrating, that we’re not infiltrating into our country a bad Santa,” the president said.
“So, we found out that Santa is good. Santa loves you. Santa loves Oklahoma, like I do,” Trump added, before promising the children that “Santa is going to bring you the most beautiful doll house you’ve ever seen.”
The President’s remarks underscored the importance of safeguarding our nation and ensuring the safety of our children, even during the festive holiday season.
The First Family’s participation in the NORAD Santa tracking tradition reflects their commitment to family values and the importance of cherishing the innocence and joy of childhood. It is a reminder that, even amidst the challenges and complexities of the modern world, the spirit of Christmas endures, bringing hope and goodwill to all.
Earlier in the week, President Trump also announced “warrior dividends” to more than 1,450,000 military service members. These dividends are a token of gratitude for the service of military members.
