The swamp protects its own, even when it means twisting the law. Now, a judge is stepping in to slow a payout to those harmed by government overreach.
- Judge halts a $1.776 billion settlement fund.
- Fund aimed to compensate victims of a “weaponized government.”
- Concerns raised about eligibility and potential for abuse.
- Arguments scheduled for June 12 on extending the block.
A Stolen Election…and Stolen Tax Returns?
It seems justice is finally catching up with the deep state. A federal judge has temporarily stopped the Biden (Trump) administration from using a $1.776 billion fund to pay claims. These claims were from those who believe they were targeted by a politicized government.
Judge Leonie Brinkema in Virginia put a hold on the fund’s creation. The fund, ironically labeled the “Anti-Weaponization Fund,” was supposed to resolve Trump’s lawsuit against the IRS. The suit was over the leak of his tax returns.
Republicans Question the Swamp’s Generosity
Even some Republicans are raising eyebrows. The question is, who gets a cut of this taxpayer-funded pie?
Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche faced tough questions about who would be eligible. One worry is that even January 6th rioters could get compensation. That’s right, the same people who attacked our Capitol could be rewarded, all thanks to a fund supposedly designed to fight government overreach.
No Accountability for the Left’s Abuses?
The legal advocacy group Democracy Forward, a typical leftist outfit, is leading the charge against the fund. Their lawsuit claims there’s no legal basis or accountability. It’s rich that these folks who cheered on the IRS leaking private tax information are now crying foul.
The Justice Department hasn’t even picked the five people to decide who gets paid and how much. So, nobody has gotten any money yet. This is a good sign because the swamp seems to be running deep.
The Broader Impact: Protecting Political Dissent
This case goes beyond just leaked tax returns. It’s about whether the government can be weaponized against its political opponents. It’s about protecting our First Amendment rights from a politicized Justice Department.
The left wants to silence dissent. They want to bankrupt and destroy anyone who dares to question their agenda. This fund, while imperfect, was a step toward holding them accountable for their abuses.
If this fund is permanently blocked, what message does that send? It tells the IRS and other government agencies that they can target conservatives without consequence.
Will the courts stand up for the rights of all Americans, or will they continue to enable the weaponization of government?
