A sad event has shaken a small town in Georgia. A 73-year-old woman named Ollie Hamilton was found dead inside her church, Smith Chapel Holiness Church in Athens.
The police were called to the church on Wednesday evening after someone reported the incident. When they arrived, they found Ms. Hamilton in an area near the church kitchen. Sadly, she was already gone.
Later that night, the police arrested Ms. Hamilton’s 17-year-old grandson, Jadynn Hamilton. He is now accused of killing her. The police say he admitted to the crime.
The local sheriff, Kevin Crook, called this a terrible tragedy. He said it’s heartbreaking because Ms. Hamilton was a loved member of her church and community. Now, her own grandson is accused of taking her life.
Sheriff Crook also hopes this event can teach everyone something. He suggests paying attention to young people and looking for signs that someone might need help. He says that often, young people keep their problems to themselves.
The police are still looking into what happened. Jadynn Hamilton is currently in jail.
