NASA May Tap Private Sector Again for Leadership
Washington D.C. – NASA is thinking about asking Jared Isaacman, a businessman who has worked with Elon Musk, to be in charge.
Isaacman was picked for the job before, but the White House changed its mind because things were tense between President Trump and Musk.
Bethany Stephens, who speaks for NASA, said that Secretary Duffy and Isaacman had a good meeting.
Secretary Duffy, who is in charge of NASA for now, is talking to different people to see who would be best for the job, as President Trump wants.
Trump said he would choose someone who agrees with NASA’s goals and will always put America first in space.
Isaacman has worked with Musk by investing in his company, SpaceX. He also went on two space trips with SpaceX. In 2021, he led a mission where only regular people went around the Earth.
Isaacman believes he was not chosen before because of his connection to Musk.
Tensions rose between Trump and Musk when Musk disagreed with Trump’s plan for taxes and spending.
Recently, Trump and Musk talked at a funeral and seemed to be getting along better.
Trump said they used to have a good relationship and it was nice that Musk came to talk to him.
