A community in California came together on Sunday to remember 15-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez. People lit candles in Lake Elsinore, her hometown, to honor her memory. This happened shortly after her body was found in a Tesla. Police say the car is linked to the singer d4vd.
Neighbors said they often saw Celeste walking to school before she disappeared. One neighbor mentioned recognizing her by her curly hair and backpack.
Celeste was reported missing earlier in the year. Her body was found on September 8 after police looked into an abandoned car in Hollywood. People had complained about a bad smell coming from the vehicle.
The car is said to be registered to d4vd, whose real name is David Anthony Burke. The coroner’s office has identified Celeste’s body, but the cause of death is still under investigation.
Police searched a home in Hollywood Hills connected to d4vd. They found some items that might be important to the case. They are looking into several leads but have not charged d4vd with anything. He is not considered a suspect at this time.
Both Celeste and d4vd have matching tattoos that say “Shhh…” on their fingers. Some people have been looking at the lyrics of d4vd’s songs, especially his 2022 song “Romantic Homicide,” in connection with the case. The singer has canceled his upcoming tour dates.
Celeste’s family and friends have described her as a loving person. They have started a fundraising page to help pay for her funeral.
