It seems the Royal Family drama just keeps getting juicier, folks. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are back in the headlines, and this time, their “faux royal tour” of Australia is stirring the pot.
- Royal family tensions
- Brand Sussex implications
- Public perception challenges
Sussexes Down Under: A Royal Ripoff?
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex touched down in Melbourne recently, their first visit since their official royal tour way back in 2018.
This trip, however, is being called privately funded. They even slummed it in business class on a commercial Qantas flight from Los Angeles. Color me shocked.
Insiders are saying the Palace isn’t thrilled. Apparently, the late Queen had a very clear rule: no “half-in, half-out” for the Sussexes.
Monetizing the Monarchy: Titles for Sale?
One royal commentator, Kinsey Schofield, really laid it on thick. She claims all Harry and Meghan are doing is making money off their titles.
She added they’re clinging to royal relevance. Even though, reportedly, most of Harry’s family won’t even take his calls. Ouch.
Another British commentator, Helena Chard, echoed this sentiment. She feels they are undermining the very institution that gave them their platform.
The Real Reason for the Roadshow
Chard says Australians are wondering who this tour is even for.
She goes on to say that the goal is to appear royal because the world doesn’t see them as reality stars or podcasters.
The Palace hasn’t officially commented, because, let’s face it, Harry and Meghan aren’t working royals anymore.
However, Robert Hardman, author of “The Windsor Legacy,” said aides are likely annoyed by their antics. He thinks the Palace would prefer the Sussexes stay put.
Locals are complaining about the cost of security for their visit to Melbourne, Canberra, and Sydney. One paper called it a “faux royal tour to shore up Brand Sussex.”
What Does This Mean for the Future?
This whole charade reeks of desperation. Harry and Meghan are trying to stay relevant, but they’re doing it by exploiting the very institution they supposedly left behind. It’s a slap in the face to the Royal Family and a blatant attempt to cash in on their titles.
From a conservative perspective, this is exactly what happens when people abandon tradition and chase celebrity. Harry and Meghan have traded the stability and respect of the monarchy for the fleeting fame of Hollywood, and now they’re realizing that fame is fickle.
Will they ever truly understand the damage they’ve done?
