Prince Andrew, a member of the British royal family, has lost his royal titles. This decision was made by King Charles, and it means Andrew will no longer be called Prince or His Royal Highness. He will now be known as Andrew Mountbatten Windsor.
This change comes after a lot of talk about Andrew’s connection to Jeffrey Epstein, who was found guilty of sex crimes.
Virginia Giuffre’s family shared their thoughts on this news. They said it was a “victory” and praised Giuffre for her bravery in speaking out. Giuffre had claimed that Andrew sexually assaulted her when she was 17.
Giuffre’s brother and his wife said that an ordinary person brought down a prince with truth and courage. They added that Giuffre never stopped fighting for justice for what happened to her and others like her.
Andrew has always said he did nothing wrong. In 2022, he made an agreement with Giuffre outside of court. He said he regretted his relationship with Epstein, but didn’t admit any guilt.
Giuffre passed away earlier this year. In her book, she wrote about meeting Andrew through Ghislaine Maxwell and Jeffrey Epstein. She said that Maxwell and Epstein told her to do for Andrew what she did for Jeffrey.
Andrew was born a prince and was known as His Royal Highness. His mother, Queen Elizabeth, gave him the title Duke of York when he married Sarah Ferguson in 1986.
Andrew had already stepped back from his royal duties in 2019 after an interview where he talked about his relationship with Epstein.
Giuffre’s family said they will continue her fight and won’t stop until everyone connected to Epstein and Maxwell is held responsible.
