U.S. Working to Keep the Peace in Gaza
Secretary of State Marco Rubio said Saturday that the United States is working closely with Israel and other countries to prevent attacks and keep the peace in Gaza. This cooperation involves sharing important information to stop threats before they happen.
Rubio mentioned that the U.S. sent a message through the State Department about a possible attack, and because of this warning, the attack did not occur. The goal is to find and stop threats before they can cause harm.
The State Department previously reported that they had good reason to believe Hamas was planning to attack Palestinian people, which would break the peace agreement.
Rubio also said that the U.S. is talking to countries like Qatar, Egypt, and Turkey, who are interested in helping to keep things stable in the area. Indonesia and Azerbaijan are also considering helping.
However, many of these countries need the United Nations to approve a resolution supporting an international force before they can participate.
President Donald Trump also met with leaders in Qatar to discuss the peace deal and thanked them for their help in securing it.
Vice President JD Vance, along with others, visited Israel recently to help strengthen the ceasefire agreement that started earlier this month.
General Dan Caine, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, is also expected to visit Israel soon.
President Trump said that the peace should last, as he stopped in Qatar on his way to Asia.
