FBI Steps Up to Help Chicago Combat Crime, Enforce Immigration Laws
Chicago, IL – The FBI is increasing its support to Chicago to address rising crime rates and enforce immigration laws, according to FBI Director Kash Patel. He emphasized the bureau’s commitment to ensuring the safety of the city’s streets, noting that FBI agents are dedicated to their duty.
Patel, along with Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche, recently visited the FBI’s Chicago field office. They explained the need for the FBI to provide additional resources to support the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) in its efforts.
“Chicago needs a focused plan to reduce violent crime,” Patel stated. “This includes addressing the issue of illegal immigrants who are involved in criminal activities. Previous policies have not been effective, and we are now working to correct those failures.”
Patel praised the Chicago Police Department, calling them “great partners”. However, he also pointed out a difference between the officers on the street and the city’s leadership.
“It is our responsibility to hold accountable those who prioritize illegal immigrants and crime over the safety of the people they are supposed to protect,” Patel said.
The increased focus includes not only immigration enforcement but also combating the distribution of illegal drugs and protecting government officials and agents who are facing threats.
Deputy Attorney General Blanche added that the National Guard is needed to help address Chicago’s high crime rates. He criticized the state government’s opposition to the deployment of the National Guard, saying, “It’s almost laughable that they are standing in the way of help.”
