A woman in North Carolina, Barbara Brewington, age 38, died after being attacked by a dog. The incident happened in her yard on Sunday.
Sheriff Jimmy Thornton said that Barbara was trying to protect her own dog from a stray dog she had been caring for since May. The stray dog became aggressive and attacked her.
Even though she was alone at the time, Barbara managed to save her own dog by getting it back inside the house.
The stray dog was later put down at the location of the incident.
Barbara was a mother to three children and worked as a dental assistant. Her sister described her as a loving person who brought joy to others. A fundraising page has been set up to help her family.
