Trump Administration Prioritizes Deportation of Illegal Immigrants, Citing Public Safety
Washington D.C. – The Trump administration is reporting significant progress in its efforts to enforce immigration laws and remove individuals who are in the country illegally. Since President Trump’s return to office in January, over 515,000 illegal immigrants have been deported, according to a high-ranking official at the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).
DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin stated the administration is on track to deport 600,000 illegal immigrants by the end of the year. In total, more than two million illegal aliens have left the U.S., including 1.6 million who voluntarily left the country. Additionally, 485,000 illegal aliens have been arrested by DHS since President Trump resumed his duties.
McLaughlin emphasized that this is “just the beginning” and praised President Trump and Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem for revitalizing an agency that she says had been hindered from fulfilling its mission in recent years.
The administration also highlighted specific cases of illegal aliens arrested for serious crimes, including offenses against children, assault, and drug trafficking.
“Illegal aliens are hearing our message to leave now or face the consequence. Migrants are now even turning back before they reach our borders,” said McLaughlin, noting a sharp decline in migration through Panama’s Darien Gap.
McLaughlin criticized what she described as “activist judges” for attempting to obstruct the administration’s immigration enforcement efforts. Despite these challenges, she asserted that ICE, CBP, and the U.S. Coast Guard have made substantial progress in carrying out President Trump’s commitment to arresting and deporting illegal aliens.
McLaughlin also commented on the ongoing government shutdown, stating, “While Democrats in Congress continue to keep the government shutdown, our ICE law enforcement officers aren’t slowing down in arresting the worst of the worst criminal illegal aliens.” She affirmed the administration’s commitment to prioritizing public safety by removing dangerous individuals who are in the country illegally.
