The mystery surrounding the death of Travis Decker may never be solved, officials say. Decker was the man accused of killing his three young daughters.
Wayne E. Harris, the Chelan County Coroner, said that they might not be able to find out exactly how Decker died.
Decker’s body was found, and DNA tests proved it was him. The search for Decker had a big impact on the community.
However, Harris said that they can’t do an autopsy (a medical examination of a dead body).
Many people are wondering when and how Decker died.
Harris explained that because they only found some bones, they might never know the answer. The main parts of his body, which could have provided clues, haven’t been found yet.
Because of the time that has passed, the weather, and animals in the area, there wasn’t any tissue left to examine.
The remains were found in different spots, spread out over a large area.
Harris mentioned that an expert ruled out the possibility that Decker died from a fall. There were no broken bones to suggest that.
Some details are being kept private to respect the Decker family.
Harris hopes that the Decker family and the community can start to heal.
Decker was in the news because he was accused of killing his daughters: Paityn, Evelyn, and Olivia. The girls disappeared during a visit with their father and were found dead a few days later.
Decker and his ex-wife, Whitney, were married for about seven years but divorced because of Decker’s mental health issues, including feelings of isolation.
Whitney called the police when Decker didn’t bring the girls back.
The police said the girls were missing and in danger.
After the girls were found dead, many people were looking for Travis.
Eventually, some remains were found in a remote area and thought to be Decker’s.
Officials waited for DNA results to be sure.
The Chelan County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that Decker was dead.
