A mother in New Jersey has been arrested after her two children were found dead in their home.
Priyatharsini Natarajan, who is 35 years old, is accused of killing her two sons. Police were called to the family’s house in Hillsborough Township on Tuesday evening after Natarajan’s husband came home from work and found the children unconscious.
The boys, ages 5 and 7, were found in a bedroom. Emergency responders tried to save them, but they were pronounced dead at the scene.
According to officials, the husband told police that his wife had done something to the children.
Natarajan has been charged with two counts of murder and one count of possessing a weapon for an unlawful purpose. She is currently being held in jail. It’s not clear if she has a lawyer yet.
The boys attended Sunnymead Elementary School. The school superintendent called the situation “unfathomable” and said that counselors would be available for students and staff.
Authorities have not said what they believe the motive was for the killings. The investigation is still ongoing.
