A Texas man is in trouble with the law after being accused of stealing a lot of brisket – over $1,700 worth! Police say he took the tasty meat from different stores in Central Texas over a single weekend.
The man, named Armando Salazar, is 51 years old. He was arrested on December 6 and is charged with stealing things worth less than $2,500. The problem is, he’s been caught stealing before, more than once. Right now, he’s in jail with bail set at $2,500.
The police say Salazar went to several stores, including H-E-B and Walmart, in towns like Buda, Manor, and Austin. They say he took brisket from all these places.
As the police started to connect the dots, they gave the case a funny name: “The Brisket Caper.” The Buda Police Department even wrote about it on Facebook, and the post quickly became popular.
The police said that while everyone else was enjoying a local festival, Salazar was allegedly going around stealing brisket from the stores.
After noticing a pattern, the Buda police told other police departments to be on the lookout. Then, police in Kyle found Salazar in their local H-E-B. They thought he was trying to steal meat again. The police joked that he was “likely trying to continue to purloin the sirloin.”
The police ended their Facebook post with funny lines like “Brisket Caper Caught!” They also used hashtags to show how everyone worked together to catch him.
