The Toronto Blue Jays are on the verge of their first World Series victory since 1993, after defeating the Los Angeles Dodgers 6-1 in Game 5 on Wednesday night. This win gives the Blue Jays a 3-2 lead in the series.
The next game, Game 6, is scheduled for Friday at 8 p.m. ET and will be held at the Rogers Centre in Toronto.
After a tough loss in Game 3, where the Dodgers won 6-5 with a home run in the 18th inning, the Blue Jays have shown resilience. Games 4 and 5 saw their offense put pressure on the Dodgers’ pitchers.
One player who has stood out for the Blue Jays is Vladimir Guerrero Jr. Throughout the postseason, he has maintained a .415 batting average, hitting eight home runs and earning 15 RBIs in 16 games. Guerrero Jr. has been consistent, with a hit in every World Series game, including two home runs.
Looking ahead to Game 6, the Dodgers will have Yoshinobu Yamamoto on the mound. Yamamoto previously pitched a complete game in Game 2, helping the Dodgers secure a win.
In that Game 2 victory, Yamamoto allowed only one run and four hits, while striking out eight Blue Jays players. The Dodgers are counting on him to repeat that performance in the upcoming game.
The Blue Jays plan to start Kevin Gausman, hoping he can lead them to a World Series victory. Gausman also pitched in Game 2 against Yamamoto, putting up a good effort but ultimately taking the loss.
During his Game 2 appearance, Gausman pitched for six and two-thirds innings, allowing three runs on four hits and striking out six Dodgers batters.
As the series continues, both teams are preparing for what could be a decisive Game 6. The Blue Jays are aiming to secure their first World Series title in over three decades, while the Dodgers are fighting to extend the series and keep their hopes alive.
