Clemson Tigers Wide Receiver Injured During Game
Clemson, SC – Bryant Wesco Jr., a key player for the Clemson Tigers football team, sustained an injury during a game against SMU this past Saturday. The incident occurred during a punt return, when the sophomore wide receiver landed awkwardly following a tackle.
Wesco, who is 20 years old, has been a major contributor to the Tigers’ offense this season. In six games, he has accumulated 537 receiving yards and scored six touchdowns, making him the team’s leading receiver.
Clemson’s head coach, Dabo Swinney, addressed the situation on Monday, describing Wesco’s injury as “very serious.” While Wesco was able to walk off the field with assistance from the sidelines, he was subsequently taken to a local hospital for further evaluation.
Following the on-site assessment, Wesco was discharged from the hospital on Monday and is currently resting at home.
Coach Swinney shared his relief that the situation wasn’t worse. “It was a very, very scary injury, and the doctors did an amazing job,” Swinney told reporters. He added that medical professionals are optimistic about Wesco’s full recovery.
“The doctors are very confident he’ll make a full recovery. Definitely something that’ll keep him out the rest of this season, but thankful that all indications are he’s going to be OK. Just a real blessing for that,” Swinney stated.
Wesco also acknowledged the outpouring of support he’s received since the injury. “Thank you to everyone sending your prayers. I really appreciate everyone’s help and support! It means the world to me,” he wrote on social media.
While Wesco’s season has been cut short, he had a memorable performance earlier this year against Troy, where he recorded 118 receiving yards and two touchdowns in a 27-16 victory.
The Clemson community and fans alike are hoping for a swift and complete recovery for Bryant Wesco Jr.
