A Nebraska man is in trouble with the law after his girlfriend reportedly asked for help at a Walmart, claiming he had hurt her and wouldn’t let her leave.
Justis Barnhouse, who is 31 years old, was arrested by police officers at a truck stop near Beatrice, Nebraska. This happened after they got a report about an assault on Tuesday, October 28.
Barnhouse’s girlfriend, a 47-year-old woman from Kansas, told the police that he had choked her multiple times that day.
She also said that Barnhouse took her phone so she couldn’t call for help. The woman claimed he kept her from leaving for two days while she was trying to get her things from their camper to go back home.
Later, they went to a Walmart in Beatrice.
While at the store, the woman managed to tell a Walmart employee to follow her to the bathroom. There, she told the employee that she had been strangled.
The employee then told the police about what happened.
Barnhouse was arrested and charged with assault by strangulation and domestic assault.
It’s not clear yet if Barnhouse has pleaded guilty or has a lawyer.
