Lindsey Vonn Nears Olympic Comeback After Injury
Lindsey Vonn, the well-known American skier, is on track to compete in the Winter Olympics after recovering from a recent injury. Just over a week ago, Vonn tore her ACL during a World Cup race, casting doubt on her participation in the games.
However, after completing training sessions in the women’s downhill event, Vonn is set to participate in multiple events. Her schedule includes the women’s downhill final, the women’s team combined downhill, and the women’s super-G.
The 41-year-old athlete’s journey to the Olympics has been challenging. Vonn will participate in the women’s team combined official training. Following the training, she is scheduled to compete in the actual event. Her final event will be the women’s super-G.
Vonn’s recent ACL tear typically requires a recovery period of about a year. Despite the severity of the injury, Vonn has shown determination to compete. On social media, she confirmed the full rupture of her ACL, but expressed her commitment to participating in the Olympics.
Vonn’s career has been marked by both success and setbacks. After nearly six years away from competition, she made a comeback last year following a partial titanium replacement in her right knee in 2024.
A Legend on the Slopes
Lindsey Vonn is one of the most accomplished female skiers in history. She holds the record for the second-most World Cup wins by a woman, with a total of 84 victories. Additionally, she has earned eight World Championship medals throughout her career.
Vonn’s Olympic achievements include a gold medal in the downhill and a bronze medal in the super-G at the 2010 Vancouver Olympic Games. She also secured a bronze medal in the downhill at the 2018 PyeongChang Olympic Games.
Her participation in the current Winter Olympics in Italy adds another chapter to her decorated career, and many fans are excited to see her compete.
