U.S. Vice President JD Vance is set to attend a significant summit on artificial intelligence in Paris next week. This will mark his first international trip since taking office. According to a French diplomatic source, the AI Action Summit will bring together global leaders, top government officials, and industry executives to address the rapid developments in technology.
Vance has yet to travel abroad since his inauguration last month. The details of the summit attendees have not been publicly released, and the U.S. Embassy deferred comments to the White House.
Among the expected participants is China’s Vice Premier Ding Xuexiang. The summit will be co-chaired by French President Emmanuel Macron and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, emphasizing the international importance of the discussions.
This trip follows President Donald Trump’s recent announcement regarding a new initiative involving a $500 billion investment in AI-related infrastructure. This partnership, which includes companies like OpenAI, Oracle, and SoftBank, aims to establish data centers and generate electricity to support the growing AI sector, particularly in Texas.
The emergence of Chinese AI technology, such as the DeepSeek model, has also significantly impacted the market by offering companies access to advanced technology at lower costs. This development could drive improvements across the industry.
