The USS Harry S. Truman, a prominent aircraft carrier in the United States Navy, recently experienced a collision with a merchant vessel near Port Said, Egypt. According to a Navy statement released on Thursday, the incident took place late Wednesday while both ships were in motion.
Fortunately, the collision did not lead to any flooding or injuries aboard the USS Truman. The carrier’s crucial propulsion systems remained intact, ensuring its operational capability. Likewise, the crew aboard the merchant ship, identified as the Besiktas-M, also reported no injuries.
The USS Harry S. Truman, which is stationed in Norfolk, Virginia, had set out on its deployment to the Mediterranean and Middle East this past September. Prior to the incident, it had made a port visit in Souda Bay, Greece, highlighting its active role in supporting international operations.
