Michelle Troconis, who was found guilty of helping to murder Jennifer Dulos, is going to have her case looked at again in court.
Back in 2024, Troconis was convicted of working with someone to commit murder, interfering with the police investigation, and messing with evidence related to Jennifer Dulos’ death in 2019. She was given a prison sentence of over 14 years.
Prosecutors said that Troconis assisted Fotis Dulos, Jennifer’s estranged husband, in getting rid of her body after she disappeared in March 2019. Sadly, Jennifer’s body has never been found.
At the time of her disappearance, Fotis and Jennifer were in a custody battle, and Fotis was dating Troconis. In 2020, Fotis took his own life while facing murder charges.
Now, Troconis has asked the court to overturn her conviction, claiming it was unfair. A judge will start hearing her appeal.
The judge will consider whether Troconis’ rights were violated during her original trial in 2024. Troconis argues that her first lawyer, Andrew Bowman, made a mistake by allowing the police to question her without protecting her from being prosecuted. She claims that the statements she made during those questioning sessions were later used against her in court.
However, Bowman has defended his work, saying that he provided her with good legal help.
Ultimately, it will be up to the judge to decide if Troconis’ legal representation was inadequate and whether her conviction should be reversed.
Jennifer Dulos, a mother of five, disappeared after dropping her children off at school. At the time, she was going through a divorce with Fotis. Reports say that Fotis attacked Jennifer in her home and restrained her. Blood was found in her home after she went missing.
