A 19-year-old named Cameron Finnigan has been sentenced to six years in prison for his involvement in a satanic extremist group, known as ‘764.’ During a court hearing at London’s Old Bailey, Finnigan admitted to charges that included encouraging suicide and possessing indecent images of children.
The sentencing took place on January 16. Detective Chief Superintendent Claire Finlay, who leads Counter Terrorism Policing in South East England, expressed serious concerns about Finnigan, stating that he posed a danger to public safety.
Finnigan, who pleaded guilty to multiple offenses, was also found to have damaged property and kept a terrorism manual. As part of their investigation, police examined his electronic devices and discovered links to the extremist group, which allegedly promotes violence and self-harm.
In one shocking instance, Finnigan encouraged a young woman in a group chat to follow through with suicidal thoughts and even suggested that she stream the act. Authorities also found a disturbing document in his possession that detailed plans for violent attacks, including mass casualty scenarios.
Investigators found evidence that Finnigan had also made threats against a homeless person, discussing plans to kill him near his home. Officers discovered a red tent in a field that linked back to his conversations online.
Finnigan’s case is part of a larger concerning trend linked to the ‘764’ group, which the FBI has described as a violent network that uses social media to desensitize its members to acts of violence and exploitation.
As authorities continue to investigate this dangerous group, they warn that the threat it poses is significant, not just in the U.K., but globally. Finnigan’s arrest in March followed reports that he possessed a gun, although no weapon was found. Instead, police uncovered his disturbing online activities related to the group.
Claire Finlay emphasized the need for public awareness about the dangers posed by such extremist networks, noting that Finnigan’s actions represented a severe threat to community safety.
