Rapper Tay-K47, whose real name is Taymor McIntyre, has been found guilty of murder for the second time, this time for the shooting death of 23-year-old Mark Anthony Saldivar in 2017. Reports indicate that McIntyre, previously convicted for another murder in 2016, now faces an additional prison sentence ranging from 5 to 99 years. He is already serving 55 years for his involvement in a separate fatal shooting.
McIntyre appeared in court on April 14, where the jury found him guilty of murder in the case involving Saldivar, a photographer who was shot outside a Chick-fil-A restaurant in San Antonio on April 23, 2017. Although he was acquitted of capital murder—which would have led to a life sentence without parole—jurors unanimously convicted him of the lesser charge of murder.
During the trial, prosecutors claimed that McIntyre attempted to rob Saldivar of his camera gear before the shooting. His defense team argued that the police investigation relied too heavily on witness statements, indicating flaws in the case. One of McIntyre’s lawyers, John Hunter, asserted that his client was not guilty of any form of murder, emphasizing that the investigation was not conducted thoroughly.
Currently, McIntyre is already incarcerated for a home invasion in 2016 that resulted in the death of 21-year-old Ethan Walker. Even though he did not fire the weapon in that incident, he was held responsible for being part of the scheme to rob the house, which prosecutors argued could result in violence.
Following his initial home invasion case, McIntyre evaded capture by cutting off his ankle monitor and went on the run. While a fugitive, he released the track “The Race,” expressing his situation in the lyrics. He was finally apprehended in New Jersey on June 30, 2017.
As jurors deliberate on the length of his new sentence for the murder of Saldivar, the judge confirmed that they would continue discussions the following day.
