Taylor Swift’s New Song Reflects on Fame and Love
Taylor Swift is out with a new song called “Elizabeth Taylor,” from her album “The Life of a Showgirl.” In it, she seems to look at how fame can affect a person, drawing comparisons between her life and the life of the famous actress Elizabeth Taylor.
The song includes references to Taylor’s life, like mentions of Portofino (where Elizabeth Taylor got engaged) and her famous violet eyes. She also sings about trading Cartier jewelry for trust, which could be about how money and fame don’t always bring happiness or real relationships.
Swift’s album also seems to touch on her relationship with football player Travis Kelce. In another song, “Wood,” she hints at finding true love after past heartbreaks and even mentions Kelce’s podcast, “New Heights.” The couple recently announced they are engaged.
Swift said “Elizabeth Taylor” is one of her favorite songs on the album, and that it is about “the anxiety provoked by fickle fame.”
