New Orleans is buzzing with excitement as the Super Bowl approaches this Sunday, and potential attendees might be pleased to hear that ticket prices are lower than last year. Currently, the starting price for a ticket sits around $2,600, according to StubHub. The company’s representative, Adam Budelli, mentioned that although some tickets are still available, they are selling swiftly.
Last year was a record-setting Super Bowl for ticket prices, but this year shows a significant drop of 56%, making it more accessible for fans—though “affordable” might still be a stretch. The average ticket now costs about $6,900, reflecting a 17% decrease from the previous year.
The reasons for this decline in prices are numerous. The Caesars Superdome can now hold approximately 15,000 additional fans, there are more hotel rooms available for visitors, and fans may be experiencing a bit of fatigue after witnessing their teams’ recent successes.
The Kansas City Chiefs, who have claimed victory in the last two Super Bowls, including a nail-biting match against the Philadelphia Eagles in 2023, have noticeably influenced ticket sales. After consecutive wins, it seems hard for fans to justify spending excessive amounts on tickets year after year.
Currently, Eagles fans are leading ticket purchases, particularly from Pennsylvania. However, Budelli remarked that ticket sales from Kansas City fans have surged by 14% recently, tightening the competition. The gap now stands at about 15% in favor of the Eagles, with Kansas and Missouri lagging behind by around 9%. Though Eagles fans dominate for now, Chiefs support could ramp up as the weekend draws nearer.
It’s also worth noting that while ticket prices are down this year, last year’s inflated costs were partially due to the Super Bowl being held in Las Vegas. This year’s prices are more aligned with those we saw in 2023. As the big day approaches, fans from both sides are optimistic and eager to be part of this thrilling event.
