LOS ANGELES — The upcoming Super Bowl pregame show promises to be a celebration of Louisiana’s rich musical heritage. Grammy and Oscar-winning artist Jon Batiste will perform the national anthem, while fellow Louisiana natives Trombone Shorty and Lauren Daigle will sing “America the Beautiful.”
The event will take place at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans on February 9, just before the NFL’s championship game. Seth Dudowsky, the NFL’s music chief, expressed excitement about the lineup, saying, “We’re honored to work with this year’s pregame lineup to celebrate the rich musical legacy of New Orleans and the entire state.”
Joining the pregame festivities, Ledisi will also perform, showcasing her anthem “Lift Every Voice and Sing.” The performances will be broadcast live on Fox, highlighting local talent. The pregame show will also include American Sign Language interpretations, as both the national anthem and “Lift Every Voice and Sing” will feature signed performances.
The halftime show, expected to draw major attention, will be produced in collaboration with Jay-Z’s Roc Nation and acclaimed producer Jesse Collins.
Jon Batiste, who previously led the band for “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert,” is nominated for several Grammy awards this year, including Best Music Film and Best Song Written for Visual Media. He recently released a new album, creatively blending various musical styles.
Trombone Shorty is celebrated for his unique mix of funk, soul, and rock, and has a rich history of performing alongside legendary artists. Lauren Daigle, known for her contemporary Christian music, has also received Grammy recognition for her powerful songs.
