A shooting at SUNY Morrisville led to a campus lockdown on Monday afternoon.
Police were called to South Hall, a dorm on campus, around 3:45 p.m. after a report of a shooting.
The school went into lockdown, and evening classes were canceled. Students were told to stay where they were until further notice.
When police arrived, they found a 20-year-old man who was not a student with a gunshot wound to his neck. He was taken to the hospital.
No one else was hurt, and police say there are no other victims. They also said there is no ongoing threat to the campus.
The school later lifted the shelter-in-place order for most of the campus, but it remained in effect for Onondaga and South Hall. Residents of those buildings were told to stay inside while police searched the area.
Students who were allowed to leave Onondaga and South Hall could go to the Rec Center for food. Other students could eat at the Seneca Dining Hall.
One student said that the lockdown was scary and unexpected.
State police are investigating the shooting with help from campus police and the local sheriff’s office.
The police have set up a command post and are searching the area.
Several state police units are assisting with the investigation.
The school advised students to follow instructions from law enforcement.
