Charlie Sheen recently shared his feelings about his brother, Emilio Estevez, being a part of the famous “Brat Pack” back in the 1980s.
Sheen said that when Estevez was enjoying his success with the Brat Pack, he felt like he was on the sidelines. He mentioned feeling like “a valet” during those times.
The Brat Pack was a group of young actors who often starred in movies together during the 80s. Some of its well-known members included Rob Lowe, Demi Moore, Molly Ringwald, and Estevez.
Sheen admitted that he felt left out when the Brat Pack got a lot of attention, especially from women. He said he would often go home alone while they went home with the girls. This feeling motivated him to pursue his own success.
He clarified that his jealousy wasn’t about wanting to be an actor, but rather about missing out on the perks his brother was getting.
Sheen has also been open about his past struggles with drugs and alcohol, which started in the 80s and 90s. After several attempts, he finally achieved sobriety in 2017.
Sheen has stated that staying sober isn’t a challenge for him anymore. He avoids the choices that led him down the wrong path in the past, knowing they would only make things worse. He associates those choices with shame and dishonesty, which he no longer wants in his life.
He credits his decision to get sober with helping him take control of his life.
In a documentary, Sheen recalled how actor Clint Eastwood played a role in convincing him to go to rehab.
Sheen has maintained his sobriety since 2017. He says he reminds himself of the bad things he’s done in the past to stay on track.
