Police in England are actively searching for a 23-year-old woman who went missing in remote moorland nearly three days ago, with freezing temperatures making the situation more urgent.
On February 20, the Durham Constabulary reported that Jenny Hall had not been seen since she departed her home in Tow Law at around 3 p.m. on Tuesday, February 18. Authorities found her red Ford Focus parked on a road between the village of Eggleston and Stanhope the following day.
An extensive search operation is underway in the area. Police teams are collaborating with mountain rescue experts and utilizing air support, including help from HM Coastguard. “Jenny is known to be a keen long-distance runner, and we are broadening our search in the Teesdale area,” officials indicated.
The community’s support has been invaluable, and police have requested anyone with information to step forward and assist in the search. The Teesdale and Weardale Search and Mountain Rescue Team have been involved, stating that over 30 team members and three search dogs have already covered more than 100 miles of paths and tracks on the moors.
The search efforts have focused on nearby streams, rivers, and the network of footpaths surrounding the area where Jenny’s car was found. Specialized sniffer dogs are also being deployed to track her last known location and the running trails she often frequented.
Despite the tough weather conditions and challenging terrain, authorities have reassured the public that the search is ongoing. Behind the scenes, investigators are examining Jenny’s mobile phone, smartwatch, and running applications, but so far, these efforts haven’t produced any leads.
Local police chief inspector Dean Haythornthwaite expressed growing concern for Jenny’s safety. He emphasized the need to explore every lead, noting, “We are determined to do everything we can to find her,” and thanked all those involved in the search efforts.
Jenny is described as white, approximately 6 feet tall, with long dark hair. Her family has reported that she may have been wearing a green jacket and had her hair secured in a ponytail when she went missing.
The community hopes for her safe return and continues to support the search efforts.
