Chimere Dike, a player for the Tennessee Titans, has been recognized for his outstanding performance in a recent game against the Arizona Cardinals. Dike was named the American Football Conference (AFC) Special Teams Player of the Week.
In the game, which the Titans won 22-21, Dike played a key role in special teams. He returned four kickoffs for a total of 136 yards. One of these returns was particularly impressive, going for 65 yards in the second quarter. He also returned three punts for 33 yards.
Dike’s performance in returning kicks and punts was among the best in the league for that week. His average of 34.0 yards per kickoff return and 11.0 yards per punt return were the highest in the NFL during Week 5, for players with at least three returns. His long 65-yard kickoff return was also the longest in the league that week.
Beyond his special teams contributions, Dike also contributed on offense, catching two passes for 17 yards.
Other AFC players were also honored for their play in Week 5. C.J. Stroud, the quarterback for the Houston Texans, was named the AFC Offensive Player of the Week. Nik Bonitto, an edge rusher for the Denver Broncos, was named the AFC Defensive Player of the Week.
In the National Football Conference (NFC), Rico Dowdle, a running back for the Carolina Panthers, was named Offensive Player of the Week. Kool-Aid McKinstry, a cornerback for the New Orleans Saints, earned Defensive Player of the Week honors. The NFC Special Teams Player of the Week was Eddy Pineiro, a kicker for the San Francisco 49ers.
