Rihanna is expressing her gratitude following A$AP Rocky’s recent acquittal in his felony assault trial. Shortly after the jury revealed their verdict, which took place on February 18, the singer shared her feelings on social media.
In an Instagram story, Rihanna, 36, wrote in all caps, “The Glory belongs to God and God alone. THANKFUL, HUMBLED BY HIS MERCY!”
A$AP Rocky, whose real name is Rakim Mayers, was accused of firing a gun during a fight with fellow artist A$AP Relli in November 2021. If found guilty, he faced a potential sentence of up to 24 years in prison.
The couple, who have been together since November 2020, are proud parents to two sons: RZA, who is 2½ years old, and Riot, who is 18 months.
After the court proceeding at the Clara Shortridge Foltz Criminal Justice Center in Los Angeles, A$AP Rocky also shared his thanks. “Thank y’all for saving my life. Thank y’all for making the right decision,” he said, hugging his family and Rihanna.
He further expressed his appreciation after leaving the courtroom, stating, “I gotta thank God first” and thanking the jury for their decision. He noted how challenging the past four years have been but emphasized his thankfulness for his freedom.
Following the trial, he posted a straightforward message on social media, advising others to learn from his experiences: “DON’T BE DUMB.”
Rihanna supported Rocky throughout the trial, even bringing their children to court, a move that drew criticism from prosecutors. They argued that the presence of his famous partner and their kids should not influence the proceedings.
A judge later requested that no mention of Rihanna or their children be made in future court discussions. Rocky’s defense team denied the allegations against him, maintaining that the weapon involved was simply a prop gun.
Before the trial’s conclusion, Rocky had chosen to go ahead with a jury trial instead of accepting a plea deal.
