A man from California has been arrested for allegedly running over a 16-year-old girl who was pregnant. The tragic incident occurred after the girl confronted him about his relationship with her younger sister.
Isaac Blackhorse Garcia was taken into custody following the event on the night of February 2 in Riverside, California, according to a statement from the Riverside Police Department.
The young victim, whose name hasn’t been released by officials, suffered severe injuries and was rushed to a hospital but sadly did not survive. Reports indicate she was 16 years old at the time.
Medical personnel delivered her baby, but the infant is reported to be in critical condition.
Authorities claim that Blackhorse Garcia was involved in a sexual relationship with the victim’s teenage sister and had dropped her off at home just before the incident. They allege that as the girl’s family approached his car, he sped off, hitting the victim with his vehicle.
Video footage from a neighbor’s security camera captures the moment when the family members were heard screaming and rushing to the scene. Another camera recorded the sound of the car speeding away.
In a fundraiser set up to honor the deceased teenager, her family remembers her as “a radiant light in our lives.” The fundraiser shared that she was excited about becoming a mother and had many dreams ahead, which were abruptly taken from her.
Blackhorse Garcia faces serious charges, including murder, hit-and-run resulting in death, and unlawful sex with a minor. He is currently being held without bail.
There is no immediate information on his plea or attorney. Authorities suspect that he may have harmed other minors and are encouraging anyone with information about the case to reach out to Riverside detectives.
