Palmeiras Extends Lead in Brasileirão with Dominating Victory
São Paulo, Brazil – Palmeiras showcased their strength and determination this Saturday, securing a convincing 4-1 victory against Juventude in a rescheduled match from the 12th round of the Brasileirão-2025. The match, held at Allianz Parque, was witnessed by a vibrant crowd of over 40,000 fans, marking Palmeiras’ eighth consecutive home win. This victory solidifies their position at the top of the league standings, while Juventude faces a difficult battle against relegation.
Despite missing several key players, Palmeiras asserted their dominance from the opening whistle, controlling the tempo of the game and creating numerous scoring opportunities. Juventude, on the other hand, focused primarily on defense, attempting to contain Palmeiras’ relentless attacks.
The breakthrough came in the 26th minute when Raphael Veiga found the back of the net, rewarding Palmeiras for their persistent pressure. The goal ignited the home crowd and further fueled Palmeiras’ determination.
A significant moment in the match was the return of Bruno Rodrigues, who made his first start of the year after recovering from two surgeries and a long absence of 600 days. Rodrigues seized the opportunity, capitalizing on a pass from Mauricio and a misjudgment by Juventude’s goalkeeper Jandrei to score in the 43rd minute. This emotional goal marked Rodrigues’ first for Palmeiras and his first goal since November 2023, adding a special touch to the team’s victory.
In the first half, Juventude struggled to gain a foothold in the game, managing only 30% possession and failing to register a single shot on goal.
Palmeiras continued their attacking onslaught in the second half, quickly adding to their lead. Fuchs scored in the 48th minute, further extending Palmeiras’ advantage. Like Rodrigues, this was also Fuchs’ first goal in the Palmeiras jersey. Shortly after, Felipe Anderson contributed with another goal in the 56th minute, making the score 4-0.
Juventude managed to find a consolation goal in the 77th minute through Rodrigo Sam, assisted by Nenê. While this sparked a brief period of increased attacking efforts from Juventude, it was too late to alter the outcome of the match.
With this victory, Palmeiras now holds 58 points, surpassing Flamengo by three points. Both teams have played the same number of matches (26), but Palmeiras boasts a higher number of wins (18 compared to Flamengo’s 16). Juventude, with 23 points from 27 games, remains in 19th place, five points behind Santos, who currently occupies the last spot outside the relegation zone.
Looking ahead, Palmeiras will face Red Bull Bragantino at Allianz Parque, while Juventude will travel to Maracanã to play against Fluminense.
