An Unusual House Guest for Cowboys Coach
Dallas Cowboys head coach Brian Schottenheimer experienced a surprising event at his home when he discovered an owl flying around his living room. The incident occurred on Thursday night, leaving Schottenheimer with a flurry of text messages and a wildlife situation to handle.
Schottenheimer, engrossed in game-plan meetings, returned to his phone to find over 70 text messages. The initial message was from his son, alerting the family to a “hawk-sized bird” inside the house. To his surprise, it was an owl.
Unsure how to handle the situation, Schottenheimer sought help from his soon-to-be nephew and niece. However, their attempts to remove the owl were unsuccessful, only agitating the bird further. Ultimately, Schottenheimer decided to spend the night elsewhere, leaving the situation to his wife.
Eventually, animal control was called to safely remove the owl from the house. Schottenheimer humorously mentioned the rescuer used a net, much like a pool net, and joked about considering a career change into animal control, given his recent experiences with wildlife.
This isn’t the first wildlife encounter Schottenheimer has faced this season. Earlier, two of his dogs were bitten by snakes. Despite these unusual events, Schottenheimer remains optimistic. He even referred to the owl as a “good omen” for the Cowboys. He jokingly added that he would even consider housing an elephant if it meant a victory for the team.
The Dallas Cowboys currently hold a record of 3 wins, 4 losses, and 1 tie for the season. They are scheduled to play against the Arizona Cardinals, who have 2 wins and 5 losses, next Monday.
It seems that alongside preparing his team for upcoming games, Schottenheimer is also gaining unexpected experience in dealing with local wildlife.
