Misty Copeland, the renowned principal dancer with the American Ballet Theatre, is set to inspire young readers again with her latest book, “Bunheads, Act 2: Dance of Courage.” This follow-up to her successful picture book “Bunheads” will be released by Penguin Random House on September 16. Illustrated once more by Setor Fiadzigbey, the new story invites readers to enjoy a performance of “Don Quixote” alongside Misty and her friends.
In a recent statement, Copeland expressed her excitement about revisiting the characters from her previous work, saying it brings back memories of her own beginnings in ballet. She emphasized that the story explores important themes such as resilience, compassion, and the power of friendship—values that have shaped her personally and professionally.
Misty Copeland has authored several other books, including “Life in Motion” and “Black Ballerinas: My Journey to Our Legacy,” each reflecting her unique experiences and contributions to the world of dance. This new installment is expected to resonate well with both young readers and parents alike, encouraging a love of ballet and the lessons it imparts.
