The actor, known for his role in Whiplash, shared his excitement during an interview at the premiere of his new film, The Gorge.
Teller revealed, "I was there at the game, and afterwards, I was with a bunch of the players. It was exciting." He mentioned how hyped the Eagles players were after their big win.
On February 9, the Eagles defeated the Chiefs with a score of 40-22, preventing the Chiefs from making NFL history by winning a Super Bowl for the third consecutive year. This matchup was notable, especially since the two teams faced off in the previous Super Bowl, which featured brothers Jason and Travis Kelce.
Reflecting on the Eagles’ performance, Teller noted that the team "just kept getting stronger as the season went on." He enjoyed the season as a fan, feeling little stress as they approached the Super Bowl.
As a longtime Eagles supporter, Teller expressed his unwavering loyalty to the team, which he has supported since his childhood in Downingtown, Pennsylvania. In the lead-up to the Super Bowl, he confidently stated that players like Jalen Hurts and Saquon Barkley would lead the team to victory against the Chiefs.
Teller humorously added that his wife, Keleigh Sperry, is also a dedicated Eagles fan, saying, "You marry into Philadelphia sports and that is it." Despite being from Southern California, she has embraced her husband’s love for the Eagles wholeheartedly.
Last year, the couple cheered for the Chiefs but quickly made it clear that this year, they would be firmly rooting for the Eagles. Teller was excited to be in the "sea of green" for the Super Bowl, reflecting the passion that Philadelphia fans have for their team.
In addition to his Super Bowl festivities, Teller is promoting his new film, The Gorge, which also stars Anya Taylor-Joy. The film features two highly-trained operatives stationed on opposite sides of a mysterious gorge, and it is set to premiere globally on Apple TV+ on February 14.
