Darius McCrary, known for his role in “Family Matters,” found himself in trouble with the law near the border between the U.S. and Mexico.
Reports indicate that McCrary was taken into custody by U.S. Border Patrol agents on October 5th. He faces felony charges and is currently being held without bail in a San Diego jail. The arrest is listed as a “fugitive arrest.”
According to McCrary’s representative, Ann Barlow, the actor was at the border because he was working with a real estate developer to build homes for homeless individuals in Tijuana, Mexico. Barlow claims McCrary was unaware of a felony warrant for a missed court appearance related to a child support dispute. She stated that McCrary received the court notice shortly before the court date and was unable to attend due to testing positive for COVID-19.
McCrary’s legal troubles aren’t new. He has previously faced issues with child support. In 2017, his ex-wife, Tammy Brawner, filed for divorce, citing concerns about their daughter’s safety. Brawner was granted full custody of their child in 2019.
Brawner has also made serious allegations against McCrary, including a claim that he endangered their infant daughter. McCrary has denied these accusations. His first court date is scheduled for October 15th.
