A man from Massachusetts has been charged with the murder of his wife, with authorities saying he tried to make her death appear as a suicide. Thiago Oliveira, 33, from Lynn, was arraigned on a murder charge on April 15 in connection with the death of Carla Lourenco Da Silva, 32, also from Lynn, as reported by the Essex County District Attorney’s Office.
During his court appearance in Salem, Oliveira pleaded not guilty to the charges. Police claim that he killed Lourenco Da Silva around January 20 in their Lynn home and attempted to disguise the murder as a suicide by hanging.
Oliveira was previously charged with giving false information to a police investigation into her death on January 23. After his arraignment on the murder charge, he was ordered to remain in custody without bail.
He is set to return to court on May 14 for proceedings involving discovery motions. As of now, Oliveira’s attorney has not commented publicly on the case.
