An Indiana man, Taylor Meyer, has been charged with murder following the tragic death of his wife, Deborah Meyer, purportedly stemming from an incident on Valentine’s Day.
Court records indicate that Taylor Meyer was charged on February 14. Reports suggest that he had intended to celebrate the holiday by buying his wife a new dress and arranging a special dinner. He even involved their children by having them create pictures of the Eiffel Tower for what was meant to be a romantic Paris-themed evening.
However, things reportedly took a dark turn when Meyer felt that his wife did not appreciate his efforts and appeared distant during the evening. He allegedly expressed frustration, telling authorities, “It was the hardest I’ve ever tried.”
In a police interview, Meyer allegedly confessed to killing Deborah and claimed he suspected she was having an affair. He mentioned seeing a picture of her holding hands with another man, which may have fueled his anger.
According to the affidavit, Meyer admitted to a violent encounter where he struck his wife with a wine bottle before stabbing her multiple times with a kitchen knife. He then sent a message to a family group chat informing them that Deborah was dead.
Despite the shocking allegations, Meyer has pleaded not guilty to the charges against him. His next court appearance is set for March 18.
