Big news from Paris: Thieves broke into the Louvre Museum and stole a bunch of fancy jewelry!
The robbery happened on October 19th. A group of people got in through a window at the Apollo Gallery. This gallery is where they keep some of the most valuable jewels in France.
Officials say the thieves took nine precious items. These included:
* A sparkly sapphire tiara, a sapphire necklace, and a single sapphire earring that once belonged to Queen Marie-Amélie and Queen Hortense.
* A beautiful emerald necklace and matching earrings that Marie-Louise, Napoleon Bonaparte’s wife, used to wear.
* A tiara and a large brooch that Empress Eugénie owned.
* A special brooch called the “reliquary brooch.”
The thieves also grabbed a gold crown with emeralds and diamonds that Empress Eugénie wore. But, they dropped it outside while they were running away. Luckily, police found it.
These jewels aren’t just worth a lot of money. They’re also important because they’re part of history. They were worn by famous people from the 1700s, 1800s, and early 1900s.
The Louvre said that these items are super important to France’s history.
Reports say the thieves used small chainsaws to get into the room where the jewelry was kept. The whole thing only took about seven minutes.
Police think four people were involved. Two of them dressed up as workers, wearing yellow vests. The other two were on scooters.
The good news is that no one got hurt during the robbery. The police are still investigating to find the thieves and get the jewels back.
