Marilyn Manson, the controversial rock star, will not face any charges related to domestic abuse or sexual assault, according to an announcement made by Los Angeles prosecutors on Friday. This decision comes after a lengthy four-year investigation into multiple allegations concerning Manson’s behavior.
District Attorney Nathan J. Hochman stated, “The allegations of domestic violence fall outside the statute of limitations, and we cannot prove sexual assault charges beyond a reasonable doubt.”
The specific allegations examined during the investigation were not disclosed; however, Manson, whose real name is Brian Warner, has previously faced accusations from various individuals, including his former fiancée, Evan Rachel Wood, and actress Esme Bianco. Both women have accused him of serious misconduct in civil lawsuits.
Hochman expressed appreciation for the bravery of the women who came forward, acknowledging their efforts to share their experiences. He noted that, while charges could not be pursued, their advocacy has increased awareness about the issues faced by survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault.
The investigation looked into incidents allegedly occurring between 2009 and 2011 while Manson lived in West Hollywood. Despite not filing charges, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office reiterated its commitment to pursuing justice for survivors of abuse and encouraged victims to seek help from law enforcement.
Manson’s attorney, Howard King, declared that his client has been cleared of all accusations, stating, “We are pleased that the District Attorney has confirmed what we believed from the beginning—Brian Warner is innocent.”
In addition to facing criminal allegations, Manson has also been involved in legal battles with Wood and Bianco. He filed a defamation lawsuit against Wood after she accused him of sexual abuse in early 2021, but he later dropped the case, agreeing to cover her legal expenses.
Bianco had accused Manson of severe abuse and they reached a settlement for their case outside of court in 2023. Various other claims against Manson have also been made by anonymous individuals, but a judge recently dismissed a lawsuit involving a woman who alleged she was raped in 2011, citing the expiration of the statute of limitations.
The case was refiled later but was also settled out of court earlier this year, just before it was scheduled to go to trial.
