The children of Rob and Michele Reiner, Romy and Jake, have released a statement following the tragic death of their parents. This comes a week after their brother, Nick, was arrested and charged with their murder.
In a statement, Romy and Jake expressed their gratitude for the support they’ve received. They also announced that details about a memorial service for their parents will be shared later.
Just days prior, Romy and Jake shared their heartbreak, describing their parents as their best friends. They asked for privacy and compassion during this difficult time.
Last week, law enforcement discovered Rob and Michele Reiner deceased in their California home. The cause of death was determined to be multiple injuries from a sharp object. Nick Reiner, their son, was quickly identified as a person of interest and was apprehended shortly after the discovery.
According to reports, Nick had an argument with his parents at a Christmas party the night before their deaths, raising concerns about his behavior.
Nick now faces serious charges, including first-degree murder, which could lead to life in prison without parole or the death penalty. The District Attorney has stated that the family’s wishes will be considered when determining the sentence.
While the death penalty remains a possibility, California currently has a moratorium on executions, put in place by the Governor. This means that even if Nick receives the death penalty, it would not be carried out unless the moratorium is lifted.
Nick’s arraignment has been scheduled for January 7.
