Justin Baldoni has recently drawn Taylor Swift into his ongoing legal dispute with Blake Lively, his co-star from the film “It Ends With Us.” Baldoni has filed a substantial $400 million lawsuit against Lively and her husband, Ryan Reynolds, accusing them of civil extortion, defamation, and other serious allegations.
This lawsuit comes in the wake of Lively’s own legal actions, where she accused Baldoni of sexual harassment during the film’s production. Baldoni, however, strongly denies these claims, asserting that Lively made them to salvage her reputation following negative publicity during the film’s press tour.
Baldoni’s legal team alleges that Lively wielded her friendship with Swift as a means of exerting pressure on him regarding the film’s production. Central to the allegations is a rewritten scene that Lively insisted on changing, which Baldoni initially resisted but eventually agreed to review after feeling pressured. The lawsuit details how Lively invited Baldoni to her home in New York City, where he claims he felt compelled to approve the changes due to the influence of Swift and Reynolds.
In a text to Lively, Baldoni expressed his appreciation for her work, but it appears he felt that her “dragons”—a term he used to describe Swift and Reynolds—were indirectly pressuring him. The lawsuit paints a picture of Baldoni feeling cornered by the two high-profile celebrities, stating, “Baldoni was not just dealing with Lively. He was also facing Lively’s ‘dragons,’ two of the most influential and wealthy celebrities in the world.”
Lively has responded to Baldoni’s lawsuit, sending a statement from her legal team labeling Baldoni’s accusations as a typical tactic used by abusers to shift blame onto the victim. The statement articulated that when a woman comes forward with claims of harassment, the abuser often tries to turn the situation around, which experts refer to as DARVO—Deny, Attack, and Reverse Victim and Offender.
As this situation develops, it remains a dramatic case within Hollywood, with both sides firmly standing their ground. The case has drawn significant media attention, leaving the public curious about how it will unfold in the courtroom.
