J Balvin made a splash at the 2025 Grammy Awards, held on February 2 in Los Angeles. The Colombian superstar attended the event as a nominee in the Best Música Urbana category, but he wasn’t feeling nervous at all.
In an interview before the show, Balvin expressed his surprise at being nominated for his album Rayo. The award ultimately went to Residente for his album Las Letras Ya No Importan, with other nominees including Bad Bunny’s Nadie sabe lo que va a pasar mañana, Young Miko’s att., and Feid’s FERXXOCALIPSIS.
Balvin explained that he wasn’t expecting a nomination, saying, "I wasn’t even expecting to be nominated." He considered his presence at the Grammys a blessing. "I’ve been doing music lately just for myself and to connect with my inner child. It brings me joy, and when people appreciate it, that’s the real blessing," he said.
He also touched on the growing popularity of Latin music. "People used to hear us… Now, they see us," Balvin remarked, highlighting the progress of Latin artists in the music industry. He mentioned other talented artists like Karol G and Bad Bunny who are helping to elevate the cultural representation.
"But it’s not just about music," he added. "There are many hardworking Latinos out there contributing in ways that go unnoticed." His genuine love for the art and respect for his fellow artists shone through during the evening.
Reflecting on his experience at the Grammys, Balvin stated, “I’m still a kid inside myself, so I come here as a fan. It’s funny because people might think, ‘Oh, he’s an artist. He is already used to it.’ And I’m not.”
