Haaland’s Fitness in Question as Manchester City Faces Busy Schedule
Manchester City’s star striker, Erling Haaland, is currently working to recover from a back injury, casting a shadow over his availability for the team’s upcoming Premier League match against Burnley. Haaland was substituted in the 76th minute of City’s recent 1-1 draw with Arsenal after experiencing back discomfort.
Haaland’s absence was noted during Manchester City’s 2-0 victory over Huddersfield Town in the Carabao Cup. During the match, Phil Foden and Savinho scored goals and earned their team a place in the next round.
Despite the concern, Manager Pep Guardiola expressed optimism about Haaland’s chances of playing against Burnley this coming Saturday. Manchester City is aiming to improve their position after a shaky start to the season. Currently, they are in ninth place in the Premier League, trailing the leader, Liverpool, by eight points.
Guardiola stated earlier this week that Haaland was resting on Monday and he had not yet seen him, but he is hopeful that Haaland will be ready to play this weekend. He acknowledged the demanding schedule the team has faced and recognized that players sometimes experience issues due to this demanding schedule.
Guardiola added that he believes Haaland will recover and be available for the game, and that he hopes this will be the case.
In addition to Haaland’s situation, Guardiola has mentioned experiencing exhaustion. The team is preparing for a demanding schedule that includes a match against Burnley on Saturday, a Champions League game in Monaco on Wednesday, and a Premier League match against Brentford on Sunday.
Currently, the team is also missing Mateo Kovacic, Rayan Ait-Nouri, and Omar Marmoush, but they are expected to be back in October. Rayan Cherki is expected to be out until November due to a thigh injury.
Kalvin Philips is also working on regaining his full fitness after an Achilles injury. He hopes to secure a spot in the team after being on loan for the past year and a half.
