Gavin Rossdale is making some changes to balance his entertainment career with being a devoted father to his four children. In a recent discussion, he talked about his new cooking show, “Dinner With Gavin Rossdale,” which provides him the opportunity to work from home in Hollywood Hills without having to travel away from his kids.
He shared, “I really wanted to stay home and not have to travel. I live with my three boys half the time, so I didn’t want to always be away buying them dinner.” Rossdale expressed that he felt the need to adjust his career for the sake of his family. He finds it strange that he can manage a job while being around his kids, but he sees it as necessary for his family life.
The musician has three sons—Kingston, Zuma, and Apollo—with Gwen Stefani, and also an older daughter, Daisy, from a previous relationship. He admitted that he worried about his sons entering the music world, saying it’s confusing for him to see how the music industry has changed over the years.
Daisy is pursuing a career in fashion consulting, while Rossdale noted that his middle sons, Kingston and Zuma, have shown great talent in music, even challenging their dad on the guitar. He commented, “It’s annoying, to be honest. They’re really good and seem to have more time to practice than I do.”
Despite his concerns, Rossdale recognizes that being young means taking risks. He explained that as a dad, his role isn’t to stifle their ambitions but to support their growth and independence. “My job is to encourage them to go out into the world, be independent and be strong,” he said.
On a lighter note, he fondly recalled a moment with Apollo, who enjoys singing five songs while Rossdale cooks—an experience he finds incredible.
As for co-parenting with Stefani, Rossdale admitted he still hasn’t cracked the code and jokingly invited others to find out the secrets to successful co-parenting.
