Taylor Kitsch’s journey to fame wasn’t easy. Before he became well-known for roles in “Friday Night Lights” and “True Detective,” he faced tough times living in New York City. Reflecting on his struggles, Kitsch shared, “I was literally sleeping on the subway.” He had moved from Canada in 2002 with hopes of making it in modeling and acting.
During that challenging period, Kitsch spent less than a month homeless. He rode the subway for warmth and safety as he figured out his next steps. Fortunately, his luck changed when he met his talent manager, who believed in him. Kitsch recalled their first conversation, saying, “She was like, ‘What do you want to do?’ I said, ‘Character pieces.’ She took a risk on me.”
His passion for acting has always been about embodying different characters rather than seeking the spotlight or money. This dedication eventually paid off when he landed the role of Tim Riggins on “Friday Night Lights” in 2006, a performance that resonated with audiences and profoundly impacted his life.
Despite his success, Kitsch has never been drawn to the Hollywood lifestyle. In 2023, he made the decision to move to Montana, seeking a quieter, more peaceful life away from the hustle of Los Angeles. He described Montana as offering a sense of calm and a place to refocus and help those in need.
Currently, Kitsch is involved in creating a space for veterans and individuals in recovery. He expressed his excitement about the project, which he hopes will serve as a place for people to find support and connect with nature. Having seen the struggles of addiction firsthand, especially with his sister’s recent battle, Kitsch is determined to make a positive impact.
“I’m just really excited about this,” he said. “It offers people a chance to reconnect in nature and slow things down.”
