A disturbing case has emerged from Florida where a son took decisive action against his father after uncovering a shocking trove of illicit material on his father’s phone. The police were alerted when Jared Follin discovered nearly 1,000 files containing child pornography while helping his father, Gene Follin, who is 63 years old, access his locked Google account.
The situation first came to light back in September 2024. Gene had asked his son for assistance because his Gmail account had been disabled due to “Sexual, Explicit Images of Children,” according to police reports. Jared, attempting to solve the problem, stumbled upon a horrifying reality that led him to contact law enforcement immediately.
Gene Follin was arrested on January 28, 2025, following his son’s revelation. Upon being taken into custody, Gene allegedly admitted to possessing the illicit images that included child erotica. The Kenneth City Police Department took action promptly, building a case based on Jared’s report and the evidence found on Gene’s Google account.
The case escalated when the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children sent a tip to the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office. They had flagged Gene’s Google account for having uploaded child pornography into its Google Photos folder. This prompted a thorough investigation by the Internet Crimes Against Children task force.
Detectives soon identified the account’s IP address, leading them to Gene Follin. A search warrant was obtained for his Google account, revealing that between March 13, 2023, and September 10, 2024, a series of explicit photographs had been uploaded, totaling an alarming 952 files.
The nature of the images recovered is especially heinous, with reports describing one explicit photo featuring young girls between the ages of 5 and 8.
