A tragic incident in Deerfield Beach, Florida has resulted in the loss of a woman’s life and that of her dog. This event has shocked the local community.
On January 17, police arrived at a burning duplex early in the morning, responding to reports of the fire, as stated by the Broward County Sheriff’s Office. Upon entering the home, they discovered the body of 54-year-old Ana Paula Ribeiro de Souza. The fire had completely engulfed the residence, and her dog was also found deceased.
Authorities allege that Ana’s boyfriend, Genivaldo Gomes Moreira, was responsible for the fire and her death. Following the incident, he reportedly fled the scene in a 2002 gold Saturn. However, he was apprehended two days later in Manatee County.
Records from the Manatee County jail indicate that Gomes Moreira has not yet been transferred to Broward County, where he faces serious charges, including felony murder, arson, and animal cruelty.
Ana leaves behind four children and three grandchildren. Her family has initiated a GoFundMe campaign to honor her memory, which states, “Paula was the kind of person who always had a smile to give, a comforting word to share, and a helping hand for anyone in need.” As of January 21, the campaign raised over $10,000 to support her family during this difficult time.
Her daughter, Kimberly Silva, expressed her grief, stating, “She didn’t deserve this. Her life was just going to church and coming home being with her children.” The community continues to mourn this heartbreaking loss.
