Guy Fieri, the famous chef, is sharing ideas on how to save money this Thanksgiving. He says you can still have a great holiday meal without spending too much.
Fieri points out that many Thanksgiving foods are already pretty cheap. He mentioned stuffing made from leftover bread, sweet potatoes, and mashed potatoes as examples. While turkey might cost more, it’s still not as expensive as some other meats.
For smaller families, Fieri suggests buying turkey breasts instead of a whole turkey. He says they’re easy to cook and can save you money. Just season them well and roast them in the oven or smoker.
Fieri also reminds us that good cooking is all about timing. He suggests practicing recipes throughout the year, not just for the holidays. That way, you’ll be prepared and confident when Thanksgiving rolls around.
Besides food, Fieri recommends a special Thanksgiving cocktail using his Santo Tequila, which he created with Sammy Hagar.
But most importantly, Fieri wants everyone to remember what Thanksgiving is really about. He encourages people to think about how lucky we are to live in a free country, thanks to the sacrifices of many men and women. He suggests including them in your Thanksgiving toast, remembering those who fought for our freedoms.
As for his own family’s Thanksgiving, Fieri says they always smoke a turkey. His wife insists on having leftover white turkey meat for sandwiches the next day. He makes sure there’s plenty of turkey, along with ham, to keep everyone happy.
Fieri likes to start preparing early so that Thanksgiving Day is relaxed and enjoyable.
